Restitution

  • There are four methods of payment:

    • Money order

    • Cashier’s Check

    • Firm check from an attorney on your behalf

    • Online payment (below)

  • Ask the front desk of the prosecutor’s office in the Joplin Courts Building. You can also call the front desk at 417.625.4314

  • We will issue a receipt for each payment. We encourage everybody to keep these receipts to show the Court and the Prosecutor in the event the record of your payment has not been fully processed.

    An online payment will request an email address. Once the payment is submitted, an email confirming the payment will be automatically sent to the address provided.

  • Yes. When the court orders restitution payments, the Prosecuting Attorney assesses a fee in accordance with statutory law. This amount will be reflected in the restitution agreement form.

    Online payments also include an additional fee (2-3%), charged by the payment processors.

  • No. Bad checks can only be paid with a money order or cashier’s check.

If the court has ordered restitution in your case, the Prosecutor’s Office will collect your payment and forward the monies to the appropriate victim.

Use this form to make a one time or recurring restitution payment.

*Although the form uses the word “donation”, the prosecutor’s office will always apply the money paid to the name and case number provided.

**Each online payment is subject to a fee of 2.9% plus 30 cents, charged by the payment processor.
