Certified Law Enforcement Training

Law enforcement agencies work closely with the Prosecutor’s Office to prosecute crime in court. Officers are often called to testify as fact witnesses, but this part of the job can be intimidating. Theresa Kenney invited law enforcement officers from thirteen agencies that serve within the county to the Jasper County Courthouse on June 17, 2026. She presented a POST-certified course that focused on five rules to follow that help an officer’s truthful testimony on the stand to be clear and impactful. Attorneys and assistant prosecutors with decades of combined experience built the course to share best practices with those who have the duty and privilege to raise their right hand to testify. Nineteen officers filled the jury box in the Courts Building in Joplin, and some took the stand in a mock trial setting. Additional courses have already been certified and are on deck for the near future.
